701 Diplomatic and Service Passports have been revoked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked 701 diplomatic and service passports as part of a comprehensive recall of official travel documents.

A statement released on Tuesday indicated that the affected passports consist of 341 unreturned Diplomatic passports and 360 Service passports, which have now been added to a stop-list and are no longer authorized for international travel.

This cancellation comes after previous public communications on January 15 and March 10, 2025, directing former officials and various other individuals to surrender their official passports. The individuals impacted include

Former Ministers and their spouses
Former Members of Parliament
Former Council of State members and their spouses
Retired Justices from both the Superior and Lower Courts
Former Regional Ministers, MMDCEs, and board members
Officials associated with the National Cathedral Project
Former non-career ambassadors, along with their dependents
Religious and traditional leaders, businesspeople, and entrepreneurs, along with former government officials who are not currently in service.

The ministry emphasized that any passports found being used are to be seized, warning of strict enforcement at entry and exit points.

This action aims to ensure adherence to the Passports and Travel Certificates Act, 1967 (NLCD 155), specifically sections 6 and 7, which govern the issuance and utilization of official passports.
