2025 Kwahu Paragliding: More than 200 participants anticipated to soar.

The Kwahu Paragliding Festival for 2025 is in progress at the Odweanoma Paragliding location in Kwahu, with over 200 individuals anticipated to soar this year.

So far, seven tandem pilots have launched into the air with 13 guests, laying the groundwork for an exciting Easter celebration.

To enhance the excitement, the Ghana Tourism Authority has unveiled a variety of new activities to engage visitors at the venue. These activities include indoor games and a special playground for children, all aimed at making the event more inclusive and enjoyable for families.

Rev. Jones Nelson, who oversees Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority, emphasized the broadened offerings and anticipated flight numbers.

“This year, we have introduced several activities to make it more captivating. We will feature games like playing cards, ludo, oware, skating, and others, as well as designated areas for children. If the weather cooperates, we aim to have around 200 flights, as we have successfully managed over 200 in the past.”

Despite the festival attracting many visitors, worries continue about the poor state of the road from Atibie to the paragliding site.

Drivers on the Mpraeso-Atibie route expressed that promises made by various governments to repair the road have yet to materialize.

“We pay every year for road repairs, but there has been no improvement. Navigating this road during the rainy season is challenging, so we urge the government to assist us. Last year, they charged us 5 cedis, but this year it has increased to 10 cedis,” a commercial driver voiced their frustration.

The buzz among adventure enthusiasts keeps growing. Abigail Ashley, who was the first to take flight at this year’s festival, described the feeling as thrilling and encouraged the Ghana Tourism Authority to train local aviators and extend the event beyond the Easter period.

“The experience was wonderful. I was eager to participate, so I approached it with enthusiasm and triumphed. I had an excellent pilot, which made it even more enjoyable. Aside from the initial wind resistance, the experience was fantastic. This should become a regular occurrence; it shouldn’t be limited to just Easter.”

As the celebrations progress, organizers are optimistic that good weather will enable all eager participants to take their flights, ensuring that this year’s event becomes another prominent feature on Ghana’s tourism agenda.
